When used correctly ALT tags (or 'alternative text') can give your site
an advantage when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation. In fact,
every image on your website should have an ALT tag attached.
So what is an ALT tag?
An ALT tag is an attribute that allows you to add
descriptive text
to your images so they can be successfully crawled by search engines such
as Google. Without the addition of descriptive text, when Google crawls
your website it can't associate your images with any specific content.
If you include keywords in some of your ALT tags (make sure the
keywords are relevant to the image) this can boost your keyword
frequency and help you achieve better rankings.
How do I add ALT tags to my images?
It's simple. If you are using a CMS it's quite easy to see where
you can place your ALT tag. It will usually be in the same area where
you can upload your images. If you don't have a CMS, your ALT tag will
be placed directly into the HTML by your website designer. If you have
provided Discover Me Design with text for your ALT tags we will have
placed them into the HTML of your website for you. If you are unsure if
you have done this, please
